Hello Shepherd! There is no denying the talent of Taylor Swift, whether you want to judge that from from the musical, performance or business side of her empire. Just as talented as Taylor is, she is also just as polarizing, to both believers and non-believers. I’ve seen a lot of articles and reasons why Christians should steer clear of Taylor and her music, but most seem like hyperbolic attacks on her, her character, and/or her music.
I recently listened to an episode on the Unshaken Faith podcast with Alisa Childers and Natasha Crain titled “Taylor Swift and the normalizing of Envy and Lust. – Episode #43” What I really liked about this episode is that Alisa Childers, a former member of the all-female Christian music group ZOEgirl, recognizes the talent of Ms. Swift while at the same time voicing her very real concerns Christians should have regarding Taylor’s music. It was a breath of fresh air for someone to acknowledge something positive about someone while at the same time pointing out red flags that Christians should be very aware of.
Do yourself a favor and give it a listen and whether you agree or disagree, make sure your it aligns Biblically.
